Revolutionizing Manufacturing through Industry - a Workshop on Smart Factories.

  • University of New Hampshire Durham, NH United States (map)

ARMI | BioFabUSA member University of New Hampshire will host a workshop on Revolutionizing Manufacturing through Industry - a Workshop on Smart Factories.

The scope and impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is expected to be transformational and disrupt almost every industry in every country, changing entire systems of production, management, and governance. According to the global agenda, “there is clear evidence that the technologies that underpin the Fourth Industrial Revolution are having a major impact on businesses.” A recent BCG report shows how connectivity and interaction among parts, machines, and humans will make production systems as much as 30% faster and 25% more efficient. Industry 4.0 has the potential to make a dramatic impact on US manufacturing competitiveness and job reshoring.

The University of New Hampshire, in partnership with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, are hosting a workshop on Smart Factories which will lay the foundation for our joint partnership, The Center for Industrial Internet of Things (CIIT).  Our mission is to create a robust and sustainable center across a myriad of industrial sectors that delivers pre-competitive, fundamental knowledge in the area known as the “Industrial Internet of Things”, “Industry 4.0”, “Smart Manufacturing”, and “Digital Manufacturing”.  The institutional partners are seeking NSF Industry-University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC) funding to structure and support the center in part.
