ARMI | BioFabUSA will be sponsoring the Tissue Engineering Lexicon Work Session with ASME.
In an effort to propel the TERM industry further, ARMI is supporting the Alliance of Advanced Biomedical Engineering (AABME), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)’s bioengineering initiative, to improve interdisciplinary communication. ARMI will be working inform, contribute to and launch AABME’s Bioengineering Lexicon in 2019.
The goal of this workshop session is to level set the terminology and lexicon to build a common language that members of the tissue engineering community use from engineers, scientists, technicians, clinicians, etc. The session will bring together Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine industry and academic experts to determine fundamental definitions in to overcome potential areas of miscommunication within multidisciplinary teams. The activities will include large group discussions to achieve consensus as well as breakout group workto define terms and concepts, articulating the nuances in meaning and explaining how miscommunication currently occurs.
As an ARMI member we want to hear about your experiences, what terms (applicable to the industry, products, or processes) have been barriers to effective communication as part of your research or product development? What do we need to consider when trying to level set the lexicon relevant to TERM? We look forward to hearing the discussion necessary to build a more comprehensive and effective tissue engineering and regenerative medicine vocabulary.
Participation in this workshop session constitutes cost share for travel, lodging and labor. Attendees will be asked to complete some "homework" prior to the event.
The workshop is at 2 Park Ave; the parking is at 4 Park. Attendees will be able to take advantage of the Early Bird rate of $25 rather than the basic $49 rate.
