BioFabUSA will participate in the Manufacturing USA Congressional Briefing in Washington, DC on Thursday, September 19.
With a vision of U.S. global leadership in advanced manufacturing, the Manufacturing USA network consists of 14 federally-sponsored institutes tasked with advancing manufacturing technologies, fostering a robust ecosystem, and promoting education and workforce development. While each institute has a unique mission laid out by their sponsoring agency, they all work to unite industry, academia, Federal laboratories, and state/lo-cal governments in transitioning new technologies into products to be manufactured in the United States. In 2018, the institutes collectively leveraged more than $183 million in federal funds, matched by over $304 million in state and private sector investments, to conduct over 475 major research and work-force development projects of high priority to a variety of industry sectors and federal partners. The participants and direct beneficiaries of these projects, ecosystem development activities, and manufacturing education programs are the institutes’ 1,900+ member organizations in Congressional Districts across the nation. Members of the institutes consist of 63 percent manufacturing firms, of which 70 percent are small and medium sized companies – key manufacturing supply chain participants. Recognizing the need for education and workforce development in new technologies, the institutes also equipped more than 200,000 people with advanced manufacturing knowledge and skills.
